Hi, my name is Wayne, I am a performer, instructor and rigger mostly local to San DIego, although I have deep roots in New Orleans and visit other places whenever I get the chance.
With no gymnastic backgound other than swinging from the trees in the swamps outside of New Orleans as a child, in early 2006 discovered that anyone could run away and join the circus when I found Trapeze High in Econdido. It was love at first flight, and I was addicted. I met some cool people through flying trapeze and began training with Aerial Revolution and learning fabric and static trapeze. The Navy pays to support my circus habit and also gives me a lot of opportunity to travel. Thanks to that, I have been able trained with various instructors all over the country and have made it twice to the US Aerial Dance Festival in Boulder, Co. While focusing mainly on fabric and partner aerial, I love learning new skills, sharing them with others and exploring all areas of physical expression and movement. I do stilt work, juggling, fire performance and partner acrobatics in addition to aerial work. I am learning whip, unicycle, hand balancing, tight wire and darn near anything I can find someone willing to teach me. I also am struggling to incorporate a regular yoga practice into my training. Finding Circus has changed my life. I believe that learning aerial and other performance skills allows us to transcend gravity but more importantly our own personal boundaries and perceived limitations. In my teaching I enjoy allowing people the opportunity to challenge themselves, learn new skills and move beyond what they think they are capable of in a safe and supportive environment.
I created this community because I wanted a global coffee house, where artists of all flavors can talk about what they do, where they do it, and how we can all grow together.
